We welcome you to Tomaso's Italian Restaurants website!
Tomaso Maggiore learned the art of Italian Cookery as a child at his mother's side at the family restaurant in Palermo, Italy.
He later fine-tuned his skills at the Culinary Institute of Rome, learning the fine points of how to prepare the finest Italian foods.
Tomaso's vision was to come to America and open a fine Italian restaurant with truly
authentic Italian food; and the basics he learned as a child, Tomaso still maintain today, start with the best ingredients available of in-season vegetables, the finest cuts of meat and the freshest seafood. This belief of always using the finest available has made critics choose Tomaso's family of Italian restaurants the "Best of" in both Phoenix and San Diego.
When he emigrated to the United States, Tomaso opened his first Italian restaurant in upstate New York.
His customers quickly learned the art of fine Italian food with the recipes of Italy. His stay in New York was short lived and after only a six year stay in New York, Tomaso missed the beautiful weather of Sicily, and moved to the Valley of the Sun in 1974 and opened Maggiore's Italian Ristorante and it immediately became a local institution in Phoenix. Sports figures and local celebrities were Tomaso's customers who quickly became his friends. Tomaso's vision of Phoenix's growth led to the opening of his flagship restaurant, Tomaso's on the Southeast corner of 32nd Street and Camelback Road in the heart of the Camelback Corridor. Since 1977, Tomaso's has become the favorite spot for visiting stars, local celebrities and everyone who loves authenic Italian food.
Tomaso has given back to his industry and the community in many ways. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Gruppo Ristoratori Italiani, and is a member of the Founder's Council of the Phoenix-Catania Sister Cities Commission. As an active member of the Phoenix and San Diego communities, Tomaso supports numerous charitable causes, particularly those that benefit children, such as the Phoenix Children's Hospital.
Similarly, Tomaso is a primary supporter and sponsor of events involving the Italian community, such as NIAF Galas and fundraising efforts for the Columbus statue at the Arizona American-Italian club.
Because of Tomaso's many contributions, Tomaso was name Man of the Year by the National Italian American Foundation in 2000.
Visit him in his family of Italian restaurants located in both Phoenix and San Diego. In Arizona, Tomaso has his 32nd street and Camelback location and the Chandler location in the Casa Paloma center on 56th street and Ray Road.
Or visit his 2 locations in California, in Carlsbad in the La Costa Plaza on the NW corner of El Camino Real and Alga and his signature steakhouse Tommy V's.
Today some of his old customers come to his restaurants when they visit from New York to enjoy some of the same great Italian food and recipes he learned at his mother's side.
Tomaso invites you to his award winning restaurants where the atmosphere is always friendly and fun!
